Key myth

In later folk versions Balor imprisoned his daughter in a tower because of a prophecy that his grandson would kill him; Cian reached her and Lugh was born. The medieval Cath Maige Tuired names her as Lugh's mother.

Where sources differ or caution applies. The tower story is from later tradition, not the oldest text.
